Robophobia

Class Project: 2009 / Revisited 2013

Music is a big source of inspiration for me and it intentional and inadvertently makes its way into my design process. When I started undergrad in 2008, I took an intro Principals of Design class. There we learned about basic line, shape, form, balance, color, rhythm, space, typography, etc.

At the time I was obsessed with a recently found musician, Ben Copper and his oddly folklore-indie-esque music that centered around topics of being haunted, ghosts, abandoned locations, technology, and the like. His song “Robophobia” became one of my instant favorites.

The songs premise is about a robot take over that comes to take the subject away. As a result this graphic was designed. I had no real formal training in design (though I had been messing around with Photoshop & Illustrator in Highschool) however, my professor then (and later became mentor) told me I was destined for design, and was genuinely impressed.

I later revisited the project in 2013, the end of my undergrad, with an alternative concept. The original, remains to be my favorite today.
