Overview

The Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum hosts the largest balloon festival in the world. There is an extensive history of ballooning in New Mexico, involving some of the bravest individuals who pioneered traveling by hot air balloon. This museum presents a four-piece interactive kiosk highlighting these infamous ballooners who made notable achievements and advancements in ballooning. An interactive tablet kiosk runs a custom-made CMS driven system to display an interactive triptych wall of the ballooner's origin, career, and headshot. Within the kiosk, visitors can interact with longer forms of narrative, view a media gallery with stunning captures of each ballooner's career, and browse ballooners by the location, name, or year they were inducted into the hall of fame.

Challenges

  • Integrating a cohesive user experience across four displays

  • Designing for (3) unique resolutions, full HD (1920x1080), UltraHD (3840x2160), and Mobile Tablet

  • Cross-experience with the internet, including art direction for a client-led content management system.

Solutions

  • Working closely on animation direction with the development team and partners

  • Deep understanding of user interface elements and objects moving from one display to another

  • Ensuring the experience remained universal from exhibit to web functionality

What I love about this project

This project afforded me the ability to learn about an entirely new industry of sport.. Being native to Southern New Mexico, the daily awe and excitement of the International Balloon Fiesta never dwindles, but this interactive allowed me familiarize myself with the history, art, andscience of hot air ballooning. More so, this was one of my first projects that I got to work on solely (with very little art direction given to me). I also held roles as a Content Management Specialist and Media Editor. I was honored to receive an invitation to the 2018 Hall of Fame Awards. and was invited to the special honoring of the 2018 Hall of Fame Awards.
