Overview

The English Department at New Mexico Highlands University reached out to me to design a poster for their Third Annual Geek Week event. The poster needed to be graphically limited to hold a week long of events with required dates, times, locations, and event information. The poster requirements included a fun way to communicate the overarching theme of the event as well as detailed registration and location information. Retro-inspired colors were selected to highlight important information and create visual hierarchy. A visual brand get geeky was created to inspire and relate to the community. This provided an opportunity to extend the event from just a rigid schedule to a collective memento of the event and the collaborations and relationships formed for the student body.

Challenges

• Working with departmental staff and university guidelines and requirements
• Incredibly tight deadline with immediate proof to production
• This event took place at the beginning of Covid-19, which resulted in the event being cancelled.
